Four DOLF Sisters Celebrate Golden Jubilee of Religious Life

Four members of the Daughters of Our Lady of Fatima marked 50 years of religious life during a joyful celebration held on Saturday, 16 August 2025, at the Mother House in Rushoroza, Kabale Diocese. The Holy Mass was presided over by Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese.

The jubilarians were Sr. Agnes Kakuru, Sr. Judith Byembabazi, Sr. Specioza Tushemereirwe, and Sr. Sephoroza Kantayomba, who have faithfully served the Church for five decades. All four sisters joined the congregation in the early 1970s and made their final profession on 16 December 2001, dedicating their lives to prayer, service, and apostolic work.

In his homily, Bishop Rubaramira reminded the faithful of the diverse gifts bestowed by the Holy Spirit and encouraged everyone to use these gifts for the common good. He emphasized unity, love, and faithfulness to Christ, calling on Christians to live joyfully and witness the Gospel through service and commitment.

The Golden Jubilee celebration was combined with a fundraising drive for the completion of the Sisters’ residence at the Mother House. A total of UGX 191,935,000 in cash and pledges, along with 475 bags of cement, was raised toward the construction project.

The Superior General, Sr. Scholastic Kyobutungi, expressed deep gratitude to Bishop Rubaramira for his continued support and pastoral care, and thanked all guests, benefactors, and friends of the congregation for their generosity. She highlighted the urgent need for improved accommodation for the growing community and congratulated the jubilarians for their perseverance, dedication, and faithful witness over 50 years of consecrated life.

She also reaffirmed the congregation’s mission to promote the message of Our Lady of Fatima — conversion, peace, reconciliation, and salvation — while offering comfort to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

The chief guest, Hon. Henry Musasizi Ariganyira, Minister of State for Finance (General Duties) and Member of Parliament for Rubanda East, commended the Sisters for their contribution to community development through income-generating initiatives, microfinance support, and entrepreneurship. He encouraged continued collaboration between the Church and government in promoting social transformation and poverty reduction.

The celebration was attended by several dignitaries, including Members of Parliament, district leaders, church officials, and faithful from across the diocese, who joined the Sisters in thanksgiving for five decades of faithful service.
