Bishop-Elect Bonaventure Gubazire takes the oath of Allegiance ahead of Installation

Bishop-elect Msgr. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire has officially taken the Oath of Allegiance and Fidelity, marking another important step in the transition of leadership of Kabale Diocese.

Msgr. Gubazire took the solemn oath during Vespers at Our Lady of Good Shepherds, Rushoroza Cathedral Parish, on Friday evening. The evening prayers was led by the outgoing Bishop of Kabale, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, who has served the diocese for 23 years.

The Oath of Allegiance and Fidelity is a solemn commitment made by a Bishop-elect to remain faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church and to maintain communion with the Pope and the universal Church.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, His Excellency Archbishop Tomasz Grysa together with priests, religious men and women, and other members of the Catholic faithful.

The taking of the oath forms part of the preparations for the official installation and episcopal ministry of Bishop-elect Gubazire, as Kabale Diocese enters a new chapter of leadership.

The main celebration is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, at St. Ignatius University Kabale, where Msgr. Gubazire is expected to be ordained and installed as the new Bishop of Kabale Diocese.
