Bishop Rubaramira Calls for Love, Forgiveness, and Reconciliation at Christmas

The Ordinary of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, has called upon Christians across the diocese to embrace love, forgiveness, and reconciliation as they celebrate Christmas, reminding them that the birth of Christ is a powerful invitation to peace within families and communities.

Delivering his Christmas message to journalists at his residence on Rushoroza Hill on 23 December 2025, the Bishop congratulated Christians for completing the four weeks of Advent, a sacred time of preparation for the coming of Christ. He noted that Advent calls believers to repentance and renewal so as to welcome the Savior with sincere hearts.

Reflecting on Matthew 3:1–12, Bishop Rubaramira recalled the message of Saint John the Baptist, who urged people to prepare the way of the Lord through repentance. He emphasized that Jesus comes bearing the fullness of God’s love and mercy, desiring to dwell in the hearts of those who open themselves to Him.

He also referenced John 1:14, reminding Christians that the Word became flesh and continues to dwell among humanity. He encouraged the faithful to allow Christ to transform their lives and make them true witnesses of God’s love.

The Bishop urged Christians to make Christmas meaningful by spreading peace, joy, forgiveness, and compassion in their families and communities. He expressed concern over divisions caused by misunderstandings, grudges, and refusal to forgive, particularly within families and Small Christian Communities.

He cautioned against attitudes that hinder unity, such as refusing to pray or worship with others due to personal differences, noting that such behavior contradicts the teachings of Christ, who calls His followers to forgiveness and reconciliation.

Bishop Rubaramira further reminded Christians that everyone has needs, material, emotional, and spiritual,  and called upon the faithful to become generous instruments of Christ’s love, especially toward those who may be difficult to relate with. He emphasized that God will judge humanity by the love and generosity shown to others.

Concluding his message, the Bishop encouraged believers to allow God’s grace to dwell in their lives, assuring them that divine grace is sufficient to overcome every challenge. He prayed for God’s protection, peace, and blessings upon all families and communities, wishing everyone a joyful and blessed Christmas.
